| Who can join the flying tour? |
| Any Pilot with a current Pilot's Licence, valid Medical Certificate and Radio Operators Licence flying an aircraft (small, light, microlight) with a current Permit and valid and adequate (£1 million minimum) Europe wide insurance can join the tour. It will be advantageous if your aircraft is fitted with a Transponder. |
| Any Flight Instructor accompanied by a student Pilot is welcome to join the Tour. |
| How many hours of flying will be done per day? |
| An average of 300 to 400 nautical miles will be flown daily. This is challenging and hard work; especially if you have not flown for more than 3 hours duration in one flight before. Each flight sector is approximately 200 - 300 nautical miles, with fuel available at each landing airfield. |
| What will it cost me? |
| On this tour, you will need to budget for 30 to 40 hours of flying depending on your speed and fuel consumption. Plus landing fees and handling agents fees at larger airports like Granada, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Channel Islands will need to be added. (costs awaited from various agencies) Plus the cost of food, drink, lodging (estimated at £125 per day per person) Plus the cost of maps for the route. |
| What does the entrance fee cover? |
| The entrance / registration fee covers the cost of organising the tour, making arrangements to land, park, refuel, at all airfields on the way. The fee includes the cost of the tour plan and manual for pilots. |
| What does the entrance fee not cover? |
| The entrance fee does not cover hotel reservation fees, local travel costs (taxis to and from hotels to airports,etc) |
| What will I gain from joining this exciting and challenging flying expedition? |
| You will gain knowledge and practice thus experience by flying in company with experienced Instructor and other pilots. You will learn to plan your flight in detail, including weather information, flight plans, international border crossings, landing at large international airports and small mountain strips. You will learn how to fly with self sufficiency and self confidence. You will be able to lead at least one sector on the tour, thus you will gain leadership skills. You will gain much more experience than you could imagine! |
| What will I learn from joining this flying tour? |
| This is a good opportunity for your to learn a little bit of a foreign language, culture, history and geography. You will certainly learn how different the weather systems are in Southern Europe; how the regulations may differ; how GA flying practices may differ in various countries. |
| What if I have engine failure or technical trouble whilst on this flying tour? |
| You must ensure that you have adequate insurance cover to include the cost of recovery, repairs and repatriation of your aircraft and yourself back to your home base. |
| What if I am injured in a crash on this tour? |
| You must ensure that your medical insurance is adequate to cover you on this tour, including repatriation and recovery of your aircraft and yourself. |
| What happens if the tour is cancelled? |
| If the tour is cancelled for any reason before the 15th April 2010 you will be refunded your entire entrance fee. There will be no liability on the tour organiser to refund or recompense you for any lost time, work, etc. |
| What happens if I am unable to join this flying tour ? |
| Once you have registered and confirmed your participation with payment of £200; you will be unable to receive any refund for a cancellation. |
